We're on the lookout for trustees
Wedmore Opera is a charitable company, governed by a Board of Trustees. This is an unpaid role for people who love live music and are excited by our commitment to creating “excellent opera in a village setting”.
As Trustees, we have one eye on the present and one on the future. We are responsible for ensuring that Wedmore Opera only does what it was set up to do and complies with the laws and regulations that apply to all charities.

We manage the finances and make sure that the money we earn and raise from donors, ticket sales and grants is used well. We support the creative team for each Wedmore Opera production to do their jobs and if we have practical skills (set building, marketing, welcoming the audience) we offer them. At all times the Trustees act as a team and in the best interests of Wedmore Opera.
We currently have sixTrustees, two of whom will be stepping down next year. We are looking for three new ones to join us over the next few months. If this sounds interesting to you, we would love to hear from you. Experience of working in the cultural sector (in any capacity and with organisations of any type or size), of being on the board of another charity, skills in marketing, financial management, website management and social media and good local connections will be particularly useful.
You need to be at least 16 to be a Trustee. Since it takes a while for new Trustees to bed in to any organisation, we are looking for people who think they can probably commit for three years. This is the ideal, not a deal breaker.

For an initial conversation with one of the Trustees, please email us at wofigaro@gmail.com and we will come straight back to you to arrange a time to speak. Thank you.
